I arrived at Sunset Park just as the sun was coming up, excited to capture Walk MS: Las Vegas 2025. Volunteers were already moving around, setting up tents and unloading gear, and it was clear from the start this event meant a lot to everyone there—lots of smiles, hugs, and early-morning energy that made the atmosphere feel special right away.
As an event photographer I’m always looking for opportunities that make a difference. Learning about the National MS Society’s mission and seeing how Walk MS has generated more than $1 billion nationwide for research and support convinced me to donate my time and lens.
As crowds poured in, my focus shifted to candid portraits: families in matching team shirts, corporate teams fueling up at the free‑food stations, service dogs sporting bright bandanas. Each frame highlighted inclusivity, joy, and the critical sponsors who make events like this possible.
Once the opening speakers wrapped up and the horn sounded, I joined the crowd and walked both the 1‑mile and 3‑mile routes, camera in hand. I captured everything from high‑fives and team chants to the more reflective moments when people were simply taking it all in. The energy stayed strong all the way to the finish line, where friends and family cheered each other on with hugs, applause, and pure excitement. Locally, Walk MS Las Vegas is on pace to raise tens of thousands of dollars toward the Society’s life‑changing programs—funds that will ripple far beyond the park.
The National MS Society was kind enough to feature my gallery on their official Flickr page. Having my work help amplify such an important cause is an honor I’ll carry for a long time.
Walk MS reminded me why I love this craft: photos can move people to act. If my images inspired even one extra donation, the early alarm was worth it.
